October 2011

2011 has been a very busy and exciting year, starting with Quarr Abbey which was a new venue for 'Five Bembridge Artists'.  The Abbey is a delightful place and now boasts a new cafe in the grounds near the Abbey and gallery.  It was so successful that we have booked another week next year in April.

The Bembridge Art Society has also had a successful year so far with their spring and summer exhibitions, many paintings were sold and we look forward to the final exhibition of the year starting Friday 14th - 16th October 2011.

Just as favourable was The Island Art Society, especially at the Bembridge Village Hall and our last exhibition in Ventnor Botanic Gardens, the gardens proved to be very busy week with nearly 2,000 visitors, we increased our sales from last year, most unexpected with today's financial climate.

With all the cuts to the Art budget for Quay Arts and the taking over of this event by a group of artists, Open Studios turned out to be a tremendous success story.  I particularly enjoyed the event this year with many visitors, I wish the group continued success for 2012.

Two more events are scheduled for 2011 : Bembridge Art Society Autumn Exhibition to be held Friday 14th - 16th October and an Art & Craft Christmas Sale scheduled for Friday 2nd December.
